What to expect
- Your therapist asks about your skin, allergies and current products.
- You lie back for cleansing, any agreed exfoliation or extractions, then a mask and finishing products. Ask which steps your booking includes.
How it feels
Usually gentle. Extractions can pinch; exfoliating products may tingle. Tell the therapist if anything burns.
Downtime
You can usually return to work straight away. Skin may be flushed or tender after extractions, sometimes into the next day. Avoid trying an unfamiliar facial immediately before an important event.
Results
When you might see a change. Skin may feel softer on the day. A facial cannot promise lasting changes to acne, pigmentation or lines.
How long it might last. The freshly moisturised feel is temporary. How long it lasts depends on the products, your skin and home routine.
How often?
One appointment is a reasonable starting point. Some people choose a visit every 4–6 weeks; there is no medical requirement for a monthly facial. Adjust or stop if skin becomes irritated.
Before your appointment
- Bring the names of your skincare products and mention recent peels, lasers or injectables.
- Ask about pausing exfoliating products if exfoliation is included.
Aftercare
- Keep skincare gentle if your skin feels sensitive; avoid scrubs until it settles.
- Use daily sun protection and ask when you can restart active skincare.
Is it right for everyone?
Active cold sores, broken skin, an eczema flare or known product allergies may mean changing or postponing the facial.
Common reasons people book
- Dry-feeling skin
- A thorough cleanse
- Relaxation
What your practitioner will confirm
