Treatments
What the appointment is like
Facial exfoliation
Dermaplaning
A blade passes over the skin to remove fine facial hair and surface skin cells. People usually book for a smoother feel or to remove peach fuzz.
Skin
Facials
A facial usually combines cleansing, gentle exfoliation, a mask and moisturiser. People book for softer-feeling skin, a thorough cleanse or simply some time to relax.
Water
Hydration / deep-cleansing
A facial that combines exfoliation and cleansing with moisturising products. Some use a suction-and-fluid handpiece, including the branded Hydrafacial system; others are done by hand.
Light
LED / light therapy
LED treatment exposes the skin to selected wavelengths of light. The aim depends on the device and setting, such as supporting an acne treatment plan. It does not exfoliate the skin.
Smooth
Laser hair removal
Laser light heats pigment in hair follicles to reduce regrowth. A course is usually needed because hairs grow in different phases. It works differently across hair colours, skin tones and body areas.
Texture
Microneedling
Fine needles make controlled punctures in the skin. It is often considered for uneven texture or old acne scars, with changes developing as the skin heals.
Heat
RF microneedling
RF microneedling uses needles to deliver radiofrequency heat beneath the skin. People consider it for texture, acne scars or firmness. The device, depth and energy make a substantial difference to both recovery and risk.
Depth
HIFU / Ultherapy
Focused ultrasound heats selected tissue beneath the skin, usually to address mild looseness around the face or neck. Ultherapy uses a particular imaging-guided system; other HIFU devices are not equivalent.
Beam
Sofwave / ultrasound tightening
Sofwave uses ultrasound to heat the skin with cooling at the surface. It is considered for lines or mild looseness. It treats at a different depth from many HIFU systems.
Warmth
RF tightening / Thermage
Needle-free radiofrequency warms tissue through a handpiece on the skin. It is used for firmness concerns on the face or body. Thermage is one system; other RF devices may use quite different courses.
Hold
Thread lift
Dissolvable threads are placed beneath the skin to provide temporary support or repositioning. It is an invasive procedure requiring assessment, consent and time to consider alternatives.
Resurface
Chemical peels
A chemical solution removes controlled layers of surface skin. Light peels and deeper peels are very different appointments, so confirm the product and depth before choosing a time.
Consult
Skin consultations
A chance to talk through your skin concerns, existing routine and options with a practitioner. You can ask questions, understand costs and decide whether you want any treatment at all.
More skin
Other skin treatments
Clinic menus sometimes group very different services here, including IPL, laser facials and oxygen or carbon facials. The exact method matters more than the category name when deciding what to book.
Body
Body contouring
Device treatments aim to change the outline or appearance of a small body area. Options include fat freezing, heat-based devices and muscle stimulation. They do not provide weight loss or its health benefits.
Smile
Teeth whitening
Teeth whitening uses bleaching gel to lighten natural teeth. A dentist first checks your teeth and gums. You may use custom trays at home or have supervised treatment at the dental practice.
Collagen
PLLA
Poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA, is an injectable material used for gradual changes in facial volume and skin structure. Products differ, so ask which one the clinician plans to use.
Sculpt
Sculptra / PLLA
Sculptra is a particular PLLA injectable. It is used for gradual facial changes over a treatment plan, rather than treating early swelling as a finished volume result.
Hydrate
Hyaluronic-acid fillers & skin boosters
Hyaluronic-acid injectables include fillers that add shape or volume and lighter products used for skin quality. These are different bookings: check the product, area and amount included.
