Treatment guide
RF microneedling
What it is
RF microneedling uses needles to deliver radiofrequency heat beneath the skin. People consider it for texture, acne scars or firmness. The device, depth and energy make a substantial difference to both recovery and risk.

What to expect
- The clinician assesses skin thickness, previous procedures and the area to treat.
- After cleansing and numbing, the handpiece treats small sections. Ask for a written aftercare plan and review date.
How it feels
Repeated hot pinches and pressure. It can be painful despite numbing, especially over bony or delicate areas.
Downtime
Redness, swelling, tenderness and tiny crusts may remain for several days. Recovery can be longer with deeper settings. Leave space around social plans and ask for an estimate for your exact treatment.
Results
When you might see a change. Any improvement develops over weeks to months. Immediate tightness or swelling is not the final result.
How long it might last. Durability varies by device, concern and response. A maintenance date cannot be inferred from an early result.
How often?
Often offered as a course several weeks apart, but there is no universal session count. Review healing and benefit before further sessions or maintenance.
Before your appointment
- Disclose implants, medicines, scarring problems and previous filler or energy treatments.
- Ask which device, depth range and pain relief are planned.
Aftercare
- Use the supplied gentle skincare plan; avoid picking crusts.
- Ask when to restart makeup, exercise and active skincare. Contact the clinic promptly for blisters, worsening pain or persistent numbness.
Is it right for everyone?
Active infection, impaired healing and pregnancy may rule out treatment. Burns, scarring, unwanted fat loss and nerve injury have been reported. Ask about the clinician’s device training and complication arrangements.
Common reasons people book
- Acne-scar texture
- Skin firmness concerns
What your practitioner will confirm
The FDA issued a safety warning in 2025. This is US safety evidence, not a statement of UK licensing. The clinician must assess device, anatomy and settings individually.
Treatment details are a general guide. Your practitioner will confirm what is suitable for you, the exact treatment plan and aftercare.
